Fifty years after an architect from Tokyo built this 70s stunner into the slopes of Mount Tamalpais for his family, its new owners entrusted us with preserving the character and feel of the original design while bringing modern functionality and ease to the kitchen and bathrooms. The home’s natural redwood trim, built-ins & other custom details were thoughtfully repaired, replaced and enhanced throughout. New decks accessed by modern sliding glass doors now connect the owners to the site’s treasured outdoor spaces on all levels of the home.
We reimagined the kitchen of this classic Elmwood Craftsman home to include a strong connection to the owner’s beloved garden. Floor to ceiling glass, custom cabinetry and a fully tiled wet bath are highlights of this project. Wide plank white oak floors incorporate radiant heat. Details from the owner’s travels and lives include a custom tile backsplash and built in seating constructed of wind felled Acacia from the property.
