This building serves as the central community space for an environmental education non-profit on the coast of Marin. The space features a commercial teaching kitchen for students to prepare food directly from the surrounding farm and gardens. A large deck and wide sliding doors allow best use of the stunning views & location on a bluff over the ocean. The green roof, reclaimed redwood tank siding, and recycled tile serve as visible reminders of the mission of the center.
We reimagined the kitchen of this classic Elmwood Craftsman home to include a strong connection to the owner’s beloved garden. Floor to ceiling glass, custom cabinetry and a fully tiled wet bath are highlights of this project. Wide plank white oak floors incorporate radiant heat. Details from the owner’s travels and lives include a custom tile backsplash and built in seating constructed of wind felled Acacia from the property.
