Our clients came looking for a home addition. Instead, we showed them how a detached ADU could better meet their goals and budget. The result: a clean-lined structure in a Berkeley backyard that shifts effortlessly from party pavilion to home office to guest suite. French doors open to the yard for weekend BBQs, while the minimalist interior maximizes natural light and flexibility.
We reimagined the kitchen of this classic Elmwood Craftsman home to include a strong connection to the owner’s beloved garden. Floor to ceiling glass, custom cabinetry and a fully tiled wet bath are highlights of this project. Wide plank white oak floors incorporate radiant heat. Details from the owner’s travels and lives include a custom tile backsplash and built in seating constructed of wind felled Acacia from the property.
